You walk into a bar to have a couple of beers with two or three friends, and you really only plan on a couple of beers. Somebody will suggest splitting pitchers, cause its cheaper, and that person, or somebody else will buy the first pitcher. Now you are going to have four beers (group of four, one pitcher each, about a beer per pitcher. Group of three, one pitcher each and you’ll get well over a beer a pitcher).

If your friends are anything like mine, there is a pretty good chance somebody will suggest one more round. Now you’re drunk when you didn’t want to be and that first pitcher did not save anyone any money. If your planning on drinking a lot alone, thats nothing to be ashamed of, and the pitcher makes perfect sense.
